Andy Griffiths

Sandy was born and raised in a small town in the northwest of England. Then, the cotton mills and coal mines provided much of the employment for the working class community. Now, those mills and mines are long gone, but the memories of those tough times when she was a child embedded themselves in her mind and have influenced her writing. Sandy trained as a teacher for children with Specific Learning Difficulties, moved to the south (a big difference to living in the north) and eventually relocated to Italy, where she lived for eight years. Now she lives in a different sort of mining community (tin mines and none of them working) on the rugged Cornish coast. She loves being close to family and friends – and, of course, having time to write.
